Dr. Lauren E Ta, DDS, PhD, joins Gendler Implant Center with diverse experience in General Dentistry. Dr. Ta also has extensive experience in, and a passion for, treating patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMD/TMJ) and pain associated with TMD. Dr. Ta has years of advance experience in clinical pain research, TMD and Orofacial Pain Management, and Molecular Neuroscience.
Minnesota native, growing up in White Bear Lake, Dr. Ta attended and graduated from University of Minnesota, first with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, then to the University of Minnesota, School of Dentistry where she received her DDS degree. She continued at University of Minnesota’s School of Dentistry, completed her residency in General Practice, then a residency in TMD and Orofacial Pain Management and received a Master of Science degree in Oral Biology.
Dr. Ta moved to Washington DC to practice and participate in a Clinical Pain Research Fellowship with the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research. She has participated in and collaborated on numerous clinical studies in Orofacial Pain Management, finding her expertise in general dentistry skill application and understanding of advance treatment options were mutually symbiotic.
After receiving her Ph.D. in Molecular Neuroscience from Mayo Clinic, Mayo Graduate School, she continues with Mayo Clinic’s Department of Neurology as an Assistant Professor of Neurology. In addition to years of practicing as a general dentist she also actively continues collaborating with pain researchers in the areas of cancer-related pain and arthritis pain.
Dr. Lauren Ta’s ongoing pursuit of professional knowledge makes her one of very few dentists to gain world-class proficiency in each of her respective fields, making her a perfect fit with the professional and knowledgeable team at Gendler Implant Center.
As a general dentist, Dr. Ta’s practice is focused on evaluating, diagnosing, and treating a broad spectrum of dental and oral health conditions. She strives to provide compassionate, patient-centered, evidence based and cost effective treatment. While she enjoys all aspects of dentistry, her specific clinical interests include restorative dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, crowns and bridges, restorative implants, dental extractions, TMD disorders, orofacial pain, oral appliance therapy for snoring and obstructive sleep apnea.
Dr. Lauren Ta volunteers as a General Dentist with Good Samaritan Dental Clinic in Rochester. She is a member of Project Health International where she travels to Guatemala and Vietnam to deliver dental care to underprivileged patients. In her personal time, Dr. Ta enjoys reading, tennis, travel and spending time of friends and family.
